Level 2 Nail and Beauty students at Hull College played their part in yet another successful 'The Pink Pamper Day' event hosted by local charity HER Breast Friends on Saturday 28th May.

Supported by course leader Kerry Wray and tutors Sarah Adams and Claire Snaith at The Village Hotel, the students provided a range of treatments for women who are currently undergoing treatment for or have survived breast cancer in the Hull and East Riding area.

'The Pink Pamper Day' is HER Breast Friends signature event and saw all attendees enjoy a free day of relaxing beauty and complementary therapies, inspiring workshops focusing on mind, body and spirit and the use of the hotel’s swimming pool facilities.

Taking the time to get involved in the event was a great opportunity for our students to showcase their skills and, more importantly, contribute to what was a fantastic event that made all in attendance feel extra special.

Reflecting on the students’ efforts and contribution, Kerry Wray said: “It was great for our students to support such an amazing event - and gain work experience in a salon environment that will only aid their learning, progress and development.

"However, the main focus of being involved was to give back to the local community and contributing to what is such a worthy cause and charity. It was a fantastic day to part of once again."

HER Breast Friends was founded in November 2005 as a result of the friendship formed between Jan Jones and Liz Drury during treatment for breast cancer. They recognised no matter how breast cancer touched your life, there was a will and a need to do something positive with the experience and the idea of HER Breast Friends began.
