Autism awareness and understanding are essential for creating inclusive, supportive environments at work, in education, and within the community. This fully online course introduces learners to autism and the principles that underpin effective, respectful support. Learn about common traits associated with autism and how autism is identified and understood. You’ll gain insight into how autism can affect communication, interaction, and daily life, and why every individual’s experience is unique. A strong focus is placed on person-centred approaches and the role of positive communication. You’ll explore how adapting communication methods can improve understanding, reduce anxiety, and support wellbeing. The course also considers how autistic individuals can be supported to live healthy, independent, and meaningful lives. Explore awareness of relevant legislation, guidance, and sources of support, helping learners understand responsibilities and good practice when working with or supporting autistic individuals. The course emphasises awareness and inclusion rather than clinical intervention, making it suitable for a wide range of learners. Delivered entirely online, the course offers flexible study from anywhere, at a pace that suits your lifestyle. By completing the course, you’ll gain confidence and understanding that can be applied immediately in workplaces, care settings, education, or everyday life.

UCAS provides support for young people making post-18 choices, as well as mature learners, by providing information, advice, and guidance to inspire and facilitate educational progression to university, college, or a degree apprenticeship.

We support 1.5 million students every year to explore entering higher education, employment and apprenticeships and manage almost three million applications, from around 700,000 people each year, for full-time undergraduate courses at over 380 universities and colleges across the UK.

It is important to note that when you enrol on an Access to HE courseyou can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
