If you’re unemployed and you are looking for a quick, practical route into one of the most exciting and people-focused industries, this programme is for you. Hospitality offers a wide range of roles across restaurants, cafés, hotels, catering companies, and event venues, with strong opportunities for progression. This short, intensive programme combines sector-specific training with employability support and direct links to employers. It is ideal if you’re new to hospitality or returning to work. On successful completion, you are guaranteed a job interview with one of Hull College’s hospitality employer partners. Throughout the course, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the core skills employers look for. Training focuses on customer service, teamwork, health and safety, food hygiene, and professional behaviour in hospitality settings. You’ll learn how to work safely and efficiently, deliver excellent customer experiences, and understand the expectations of front-of-house and catering roles. You’ll complete a range of recognised qualifications and workshops that strengthen your CV and help you stand out to employers. These include employability skills to boost confidence and interview readiness, customer service training for hospitality environments, and essential food safety and health and safety knowledge. Learning takes place in a supportive environment, with experienced tutors guiding you through practical activities and real-world scenarios. The programme is designed to reflect the pace and standards of the hospitality industry, helping you feel confident and job-ready. By the end of the SWAP, you’ll have gained valuable skills, nationally recognised qualifications, and a guaranteed interview giving you a strong opportunity to secure employment and begin building a career in hospitality. Entry Requirements Must be unemployed or a jobseeker claiming either Universal Credit, Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).

UCAS provides support for young people making post-18 choices, as well as mature learners, by providing information, advice, and guidance to inspire and facilitate educational progression to university, college, or a degree apprenticeship.

We support 1.5 million students every year to explore entering higher education, employment and apprenticeships and manage almost three million applications, from around 700,000 people each year, for full-time undergraduate courses at over 380 universities and colleges across the UK.

It is important to note that when you enrol on an Access to HE courseyou can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
