This SWAP is for you if you are unemployed and want a practical and direct route into office-based or customer-facing employment. Administrative and customer service roles exist across almost every industry, offering strong opportunities for long-term employment and progression. This short, focused programme provides sector-specific training that helps you understand how modern workplaces operate and what employers expect. It is ideal if you’re returning to work, changing career, or looking to gain the skills needed to secure an entry-level office or customer service role. On successful completion, you are guaranteed a job interview with a local employer. Throughout the course, you’ll develop essential administrative and customer service skills, including professional communication, organisation, data handling, and workplace procedures. You’ll learn how to manage information accurately, work confidently with digital systems, and provide a professional service to customers, clients, and colleagues. A strong focus is placed on employability and workplace behaviours. You’ll build confidence, improve time management, and develop teamwork and problem-solving skills that are valued by employers. Training also helps you understand how to present yourself professionally in an office or reception environment. The programme is delivered in a supportive setting by experienced tutors, with activities designed to reflect real workplace scenarios. No previous office or customer service experience is required, as the programme focuses on transferable skills and practical preparation for work. By the end of the programme, you’ll feel confident, organised, and ready to take advantage of your guaranteed job interview, helping you move into employment within administration or customer industry. Entry Requirements Must be unemployed or a jobseeker claiming either Universal Credit, Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).

It is important to note that when you enrol on an Access to HE courseyou can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
