About Our Courses

Career development? Wanting to learn a new skill or perhaps turn your hobby into a job? Maybe you’re a business interested in upskilling your staff with an industry recognised professional qualification? Whatever your situation or goals, we can help!

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK by investing in three priorities: communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills. As part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we have built a tailored programme to support people in employment, and employers to upskill their workforce.

Flex

Our online and distance Flex learning courses are ideal for adults aged 19+ who would like to gain a new qualification but do not have the time to attend college. These short courses - ranging from 8 -12 weeks - can be studied online from home, meaning you can start them at any time throughout the year and complete them in their own time. download our Adult Courses Mini Guide and view the full range of options available.

Sector based Work Academy Programmes

Sector-based Work Academy Programmes - also known as SWAPs - are designed to help employers fill vacancies with a skilled workforce. These are short 2-3-week intensive programmes for adults aged 19+ who are looking to upskill for work in specific jobs and industries. These work best for entry level job roles and are on offer across Hull, East Riding and North Lincolnshire.

We work in a variety of sectors, from construction to catering and call-centre to care. Programmes are designed to support short and longer term recruitment needs to help to recruit a workforce with the right skills to sustain and grow businesses. These programmes are FREE to the employer and participants.

Innovate

In Hull, we also do intensive upskilling training for new and technical growth sectors, such as Digital and Full Fibre, via Skills Bootcamps. These are intensive training courses, lasting 6-8 weeks, designed to build up essential sector-specific skills and knowledge based on local employer demand. They are developed and designed with employers to help fill specific recruitment shortages - there are guaranteed job interviews for those who are unemployed.

Employers can work with us to commission something to upskill their staff or to help fill new vacancies. Where the programmes are for unemployed people, there is no charge and for employed staff the funding covers 70% of the cost.
