Providing care at the end of life requires sensitivity, understanding, and strong professional values. This fully online course introduces learners to the principles of supporting individuals who are approaching the end of life, alongside those important to them. Suitable for those working or considering work in health or social care, the course explores what high-quality, person-centred end of life care looks like. You’ll gain insight into care planning, managing pain and discomfort, and understanding how conditions such as dementia can affect end of life experiences. The course also focuses on the role of the care worker during the final stages of life, including responsibilities at the time of death and the importance of dignity, respect, and communication. Learners will develop awareness of how to support families, friends, and carers, recognising the emotional impact of loss and grief. Learning is delivered entirely online, allowing you to study flexibly from anywhere and at a pace that suits your lifestyle. Course materials are accessible and supportive, making it suitable whether you’re building knowledge for personal development or strengthening understanding for care-related roles. By completing this course, you’ll gain greater confidence and awareness when supporting individuals and families during one of the most sensitive stages of life, providing a strong foundation for further learning or progression in health and social care.

It is important to note that when you enrol on an Access to HE courseyou can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
