Hundreds of prospective students who hope to join Hull College next year attended our second open event of the year on Saturday.

The doors to the Tower Block opened at 10:30am with all guests given the opportunity to look around the campus, meet the college’s amazing teaching staff and student ambassadors and explore the state-of-the-art facilities on offer in the subject areas they were interested in studying.

As well as finding out more about life at college, visitors also enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities and demonstrations, including cooking stir fry in Catering and Hospitality, Dance workshops and the college’s impressive clinical room in the Health and Social Care department, whilst Art & Design classrooms proudly showed off the work produced by our current crop of talented students.

Course tutors and Heads of Departments were on hand to provide support, key information and answer any questions attendees had about individual courses, life at the college and exciting opportunities studying with us can provide, whilst student ambassadors were also on hand to offer help and guidance throughout the day.

The event proved to be a resounding success, with visiting parents and prospective students impressed with what they saw at Hull College.

Newland School for Girls pupil Tia Houghton said: “It was great to attend the open event and get lots of information about the Catering course I’m interested in studying. Everything was explained clearly by the tutors and I now know what to expect when I come to college. It was great that we had a little activity - cooking stir-fry - to do on the day as well to get some hands-on experience. It was so much fun!”

One parent, Mark, had nothing but praise for the event and the college after his and his daughter’s experience and said: “It was a very impressive setup on the day and the whole event was great. Our host for Photography - Andy - was fantastic and gave us all the information we need and showcased the excellent facilities on offer the college. The advice and guidance we received was very informative and will help my daughter plan her next steps.”

For those who missed Saturday’s event, Hull College will open its doors to the public again for our next Open Event on Tuesday 17th January (5:30pm - 7:30pm). You can book your place to attend here.
