Congratulations to level 3 Advanced Nail Enhancements students Kate Penney (pictured) and Meesha Mawhinney who have successfully progressed to the National Qualifiers in this year's WorldSkills UK.

The competition focuses on the roles and talents of a Nail Technician, carrying out a range of services, which reflect both current and traditional standards as well as industry requirements including nail care, nail technology and nail art.

The Passive Stage of the competition saw Kate and Meesha work on the same brief - with one hand sheer pink and two nails painted red, along with a set of nails based on the theme of diversity (pictured below).

Kate and Meesha will now travel to Coleg Cambria in Wales to participate in the National Qualifiers on Friday 10th June.

Reflecting on their progress in the competition, Kate and Meesha said: "Neither of us expected to progress but we're proud and thrilled to be in the next round. It's an exciting challenge for us both and we're pleased that our tutor Kerry encouraged us to enter the competition in the first place.

"Now we're through, the aim is to go to the next event and give it our all. Hopefully, it will be enough to see us remain in the competition."
