This Is Me Week

Today (Monday 23rd May) marks the start of #ThisIsMe week at Hull College.

#ThisIsMe week is a celebration of equality, diversity and inclusion across our college community. It is a recognition of how far we have come on our equality journey and of some of the challenges that still remain.

As a college we promote equality, diversity and inclusion by:

• Challenging discrimination
• Creating an inclusive culture for all staff and students
• Working with local communities
• Treating all staff and students fairly
• Enabling all staff and students to develop to their full potential.
• Removing unnecessary barriers for all our students and staff through appropriate education, training and development
• Ensuring our students are prepared for work in diverse labour markets
• Encouraging positive behaviour, and challenge all forms of negative behaviour and ideas.

We are committed to providing an environment that promotes equality for all and celebrates our diverse community. Everyone is valued equally. We do not treat anyone less favourably on the basis of sex, disability, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, religion/faith/belief, gender reassignment, pregnancy/maternity or marriage/civil partnership status.

These are protected characteristics as defined in the Equality Act 2010 and the college expects all staff, students, visitors and on-site contractors to do the same.

We'll be celebrating what makes us unique and how we promote equality and diversity in college on our social media channels throughout the week. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
