Colleges Week 2023 is here, and it's time for Hull College to join in the celebrations of the incredible role that colleges play in our communities.

This annual event, dedicated to promoting the significance of further education institutions, aims to highlight the invaluable contribution of colleges across the UK.

Hull College, in particular, takes pride in aligning with the objectives of Colleges Week 2023, as we continue to empower our students and nurture their potential, thus making a positive impact on the local skills, labour markets and - most importantly - life opportunities of individuals.

The Importance of Colleges Week 2023

This year, the celebrations span across two weeks. The first week starts on Monday 9th October and will focus on how colleges support local skills, labour markets and life chances. Each day will focus on a key sector which colleges support through their curriculum offerings. Daily themes will include:  

Monday 9th October: Construction

Tuesday 10th October: Digital

Wednesday 11th October: Green Skills

Thursday 12th October: Health and Social Care

Friday 13th October: Hospitality

The second week will start on Monday 16th October and will shine a light on the role colleges play in supporting the national economy and how with greater investment the sector can help boost the country’s flagging productivity levels. It will also tie in with the following events:  

Wednesday 18th October: Colleges Week Parliamentary Reception

Thursday 19th October: Student of the Year 2023 Finalists Announced

Friday 20th October: #ShowYourSkills competition Winners Announced

Real-Life Learning Environments
From training kitchens and salon, industry-standard engineering equipment and fully kitted-out clinical care room and media, music and dance studios, we provide learning environments to put your skills into practice and prepare you for life after college.

Taught by Experts
Our dedicated tutors are experts in their fields, with extensive knowledge and industry experience, and can therefore equip you with the necessary skills potential future employers are looking for. An impressive 92% of all 16–18-year-old students who studied a course with us during the 2021/22 academic year stated that their college tutor had helped them to understand how to achieve their career goals.

Second-to-None Student Support
We provide you with all the advice and support you need to flourish. This could be anything from careers information and study support to free transport and meals. Most importantly, 95% of our further education students believe they are on the right course for their chosen career path.

Strong Links with Local Industry
Our main campus is located in the heart of the city centre and we work closely with almost 1,000 employers within the local industry and sectors to ensure our courses provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience they are looking for - both now and in the future.

Clear Pathways to Employment/Further Study
Whatever subject you’re studying, vocational learning can prepare you for an apprenticeship, your very first full-time job and even the step up to higher education and university. In fact, more than 90% of our 16-18-year-old students moved into employment or remained in education after completing a qualification with us.

…And If You’re Still Not Convinced
Just ask our students! 98% of our students said they would recommend studying at the college to other people, family or friends, meaning you’d be mad to go anywhere else. In addition, a whopping 93% of all students stated that studying with us enabled them to pursue their goals and ambitions.
