Course Overview
This apprenticeship prepares you for a career as a Dental Nurse, working in NHS, private, hospital, specialist or community dental settings.
You’ll provide chairside support to dentists and other dental professionals, ensuring procedures run smoothly while maintaining strict infection control and hygiene standards.
Dental Nurses play a vital role in patient care, preparing instruments and materials, maintaining records and supporting patients throughout their treatment. You’ll develop strong communication skills and professional practice within a clinical environment. By the end of the programme, you’ll be confident supporting dental procedures safely and efficiently.

Course Breakdown
Course Structure
You will spend one day per week at Hull College, developing your theoretical knowledge of dental practice and clinical procedures. The remaining four days per week will be spent with your employer, gaining hands-on experience in a dental surgery environment.

On completion, you can progress into continued employment with your current employer or further opportunities within dental practices, specialist clinics or community dental services.
