Course Overview

The Art & Design Foundation Diploma is designed for you if you want to progress into a creative degree but need time to develop your skills, confidence and creative direction. It’s an ideal next step if you have an A Level (or equivalent) in an art-based subject and want to expand your portfolio before moving on to higher education.

The course supports you to develop an open-minded and exploratory creative practice, encouraging experimentation, problem-solving and independent thinking. You’ll explore a wide range of disciplines, helping you understand where your strengths and interests lie, while developing the technical and conceptual skills expected at degree level.

Throughout the programme, you’ll be encouraged to take creative risks, refine your ideas, and build a strong, university-ready portfolio. Teaching is studio-based and practice-led, reflecting how artists and designers work in professional creative environments.

Entry Requirements:

4 x GCSEs at grade 4(C) or above, including Maths and English

Course Structure

This course is delivered through studio-based workshops, project work, and independent study. Assessment is continuous throughout the course, with your final grade based on your overall development and completed portfolio.
