Esports: Turn Your Gaming Talents into a Career

In today’s digital world, Esports has quickly become a mainstream phenomenon. There are professional leagues, dedicated stadiums and events, millions of pounds in prize money, and hundreds of millions of fans all across the globe. Here in the UK, it’s the 2nd fastest growing entertainment and media sector, and the industry is set to continue its rapid growth in the coming years as viewers worldwide is expected to break the 640 million barrier in 2025!

With that in mind, we’re excited to launch two new courses that will give you the opportunity to get your game on and turn your passion for Esports into a career! With a one-year Level 2 course and two-year Level 3 course on offer at the college from September 2023, potential careers - aside from being a professional player - include roles in marketing, business, social media, content creation, UI/UX design, event management, data and analytics, and video production to name just a few. The possibilities really are endless!

T Level Digital Support Services: Get Tech-Savvy

Continuing the digital theme, there has never been a more exciting time to work in what is another booming sector. Across the Yorkshire and Humber region alone, there are 11,120 digital tech firms, which create 54,240 jobs. And what’s more, Hull is at the very centre of the digital tech community, with statistics showing there are an impressive 6,914 digital jobs based within our wonderful city.

If you’re passionate about all things digital, want to work in what is a fast-paced and ever-developing industry, and enjoy building and repairing hardware, have a look at our newly introduced Digital Support Services T Level qualification to prepare you to work in the digital sector and IT support. Every organisation needs an IT support team and this two-year course, which has been designed in collaboration with employers, could be just what you are looking for to take the first step in your IT career. What could completing this course lead to? Just a selection of potential career roles that may be available to you include Network Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Network Security Analyst, Cyber Security Consultant and IT Support Engineer.

T Level Education and Childcare: Nurture the Leaders of Tomorrow

Another T Level on offer from September is Education and Childcare, which will help you to get the skills and qualifications you need to pursue a career in working with children in various job roles including Primary School Teacher, Children’s Play Assistant, Nursery Worker, Childminder and Teaching Assistant, or study for a higher qualification.

There are currently around 802,000 people working in childcare professions in the UK, and a similar proportion of school-based provider (82%), group-based provider staff (80%) and childminder staff (74%) are all qualified to Level 3 or above, which you can achieve with this course at Hull College.

Health and Nursing Academy: Make a Difference in People's Lives Every Day

Switching the focus from the young to the old, did you know the fastest growing age group in England is people aged 65 and over? This is putting increasing pressure on the health and social care sector and is creating many opportunities for people interested in working within it. Data published in 2022 even suggested that, each day, there are around 17,000 unfilled nursing and midwifery posts in England.

Nursing offers a diverse and rewarding career that really makes a difference. Nurses act as leaders, carers and clinicians, and use their expertise to adapt their skills to offer the best care and support to their patients. Sound appealing? Check out our newly introduced Nursing and Health Academy course, which also offers the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within the NHS via the Young Health Champions Volunteer Scheme, to set you on your way to a rewarding and fulfilling career.

Applied Science with Forensics: Unleash Your Inner Detective

Perhaps you’re more interested in a career using your scientific and investigative knowhow? Employment in the Forensic Science Sector has grown at an unprecedented rate in recent times, largely due to advances in technology such as the National DNA Database, and an increased reliance on forensic techniques by police forces up and down the country.

Forensic science is fast becoming a popular career interest for students - which is why we’ve added this excitement element to our Level 3 Applied Science option. This will allow you to continue to develop your knowledge of the three major sciences - biology, chemistry and physics - which will then underpin your specialist forensic expertise.

A Level Criminology, Sociology & Psychology: Explore the Human Mind

Are you fascinated by the intricate workings of the human mind? Do you have a burning curiosity to understand the complexities of criminal behaviour and its profound impact on society? Look no further than our exciting new A Level Criminology, Psychology, and Sociology package.
