Hull College is proud to once again partner with Emma Hardy, Minister for Water and Flooding, and the University of Hull to deliver the highly anticipated Future Parliament Programme - returning for its third successive year on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd April.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like to be an MP, work in Parliament, or play a role in shaping the future of our country, this is your opportunity to find out.
Developed by Emma Hardy, MP for Hull West and Hessle, in partnership with Hull College and the University of Hull, this unique two-day programme is designed to inspire the next generation of leaders and widen access and ensure young people who may not have personal connections to politics can still take part and build confidence.
Specifically created for young people aged 16-18 living within the Hull West and Hessle constituency, the programme offers first-hand insight into how Parliament and local government operate, explore the range of careers available in and around politics, and finish the course with speech writing and a debate at the University of Hull, simulating the House of Commons.

Emma Hardy MP said: “Now in its third year, the Future Parliament Programme continues to go from strength to strength, and I’m delighted to be working once again with Hull College and the University of Hull to welcome a new group of students.
“Every young person in Hull West and Haltemprice deserves the chance to achieve their goals, but not everyone has the same connections. This programme is about levelling the playing field and helping young people see the opportunities open to them.
“Our democracy is stronger when people from different backgrounds and life experiences are part of the conversation. I hope this programme inspires students to believe in what they can achieve and gives them the confidence to explore their interests further.”

The Future Parliament Programme gives students a unique insight into how democracy works and the many pathways into public life, while building confidence, communication skills, and a belief in what they can achieve.
