The need for digital skills has never been more important across all industries with expertise in this area in demand more than ever before. From smartphones to robotics and cloud computing to electric vehicles, digital technology is everywhere - and with an increase in technological breakthroughs - the demand for qualified computing and ICT professionals is increasing significantly too.

We offer a selection of courses covering a range of technical skills, from hardware and IT technical support to cyber security and software development/games design. Our Computing and Digital study programmes are designed specifically to give you a better understanding of the practical and hands-on skills required to embark on a successful career in the world of IT and tech. As well as gaining the knowledge and tools you’ll need to succeed in the industry, you will develop wider transferable skills sought after by employers including problem-solving, creativity and research.

New data from smarter job search engine Adzuna and Dealroom published last year revealed the number of employees in Hull and East Yorkshire’s digital sector is expanding at 8% each year, making it the fastest-growing region in the UK for digital jobs. And in a report published by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, the sector is expected to add an extra £1.6 billion to the economy every year by 2025, creating an additional 42,200 jobs - all of which means there has never been a better time to consider a career in the world of Computing and Digital.

Industry Insights

There are 11,120 digital tech firms in Yorkshire & The Humber - creating 54,240 jobs. Hull is the centre of East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire’s digital tech community, with 6,914 digital jobs based within the city, contributing £254m to the digital GVA.

With just under two million people working in Tech in the UK (accounting for 6.3% of the total UK workforce), it's a booming industry offering one of the best chances to be your own boss.

During 2022, fast-growing UK tech companies have continued to raise at near-record levels (£24 billion), more than France (£11.8 billion) and Germany (£9.1 billion) combined. This takes the total raised over the past five years to nearly £100 billion (£97 billion).

56% of the technology industry is made up of hardware, software, and services followed by telecom services (26%), and emerging technologies such as IoT and drones at 19%.

ENGLISH AND MATHS

English and maths are important life skills that will help you to succeed in your education, career and everyday life.

If you have not yet achieved your Grade 4 in the new GCSE examinations or a Grade C in the old GCSE examinations, in either English and/or maths, you will continue to study these subjects as part of your study programme to help you work towards this level, supported by our dedicated tutors.
