If you’re passionate about food and want to take your first step into a professional kitchen, this course will introduce you to the core skills and knowledge needed to begin your culinary journey. You’ll learn how to prepare and cook a range of dishes while developing safe working practices, organisation skills and confidence in a realistic training kitchen environment. Throughout the programme, you will explore a variety of cooking methods including boiling, baking, roasting, grilling and frying, alongside learning about food safety, hygiene and healthier eating. Your tutors will support you in developing practical skills step by step, helping you build the confidence to work as part of a kitchen team and prepare for further study within hospitality. Learning is practical, supportive and designed to help you grow both personally and professionally. You’ll develop teamwork, communication and employability skills while gaining a clear understanding of what it takes to succeed in the fast-paced world of catering.

UCAS provides support for young people making post-18 choices, as well as mature learners, by providing information, advice, and guidance to inspire and facilitate educational progression to university, college, or a degree apprenticeship.

It is important to note that when you enrol on an Access to HE courseyou can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
