If you’re passionate about barbering and want to build real skills in a supportive, hands-on environment, this course gives you the perfect introduction to the industry. You’ll learn how to create modern men’s haircuts, shape facial hair and develop your own professional style while gaining the knowledge needed to work confidently with clients. Throughout the course, you’ll explore the structure of skin and hair, understand how to select the right tools and products, and develop strong consultation skills so you can deliver personalised services. You’ll practise shampooing, conditioning, cutting, drying and finishing techniques while learning how to present yourself professionally and work as part of a salon team. Learning is practical, creative and focused on helping you grow in confidence. As your skills develop, you’ll begin to understand the pace and expectations of a real barbershop, building the foundation you need to progress further in the hair industry.

UCAS provides support for young people making post-18 choices, as well as mature learners, by providing information, advice, and guidance to inspire and facilitate educational progression to university, college, or a degree apprenticeship.

We support 1.5 million students every year to explore entering higher education, employment and apprenticeships and manage almost three million applications, from around 700,000 people each year, for full-time undergraduate courses at over 380 universities and colleges across the UK.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
