Skills Support for the Workforce

Skills Support for the Workforce is a programme developed to upskill employees within small and medium-sized businesses throughout the Humber and Greater Lincolnshire regions.  

Delivered by HCUK Training and partner organisations, and in collaboration with The Greater Lincolnshire and The Humber Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP), Skills Support for the Workforce provides industry-relevant skills training in sectors including Manufacturing, Agri-food, Visitor Economy, Low Carbon, Health & Care, Ports & Logistics.  

Skills Support for the Workforce provides recognised accredited qualifications and bespoke training courses to enhance your employees’ skills, increase the competitiveness of your business and boost the local economy. SSW is co-financed by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and the European Social Fund.

Eligibility

The following eligibility criteria apply for anyone accessing support through Skills Support for the Workforce:

  • Small to medium-sized employers (larger employees may be considered in Greater Lincolnshire subject to LEP approval).
  • Small to medium-sized employers facing organisational restructure and potential redundancies.
  • Small to medium-sized employers with a turnover of up to £34m.
  • Adults employed by the organisation or under notice of redundancy.
  • Adults aged 16+ (Greater Lincolnshire) or 19+ (Humber) and eligible to work in the UK.  
  • Adults facing redundancy or have been made redundant in the last three months.

Support & Benefits

Support

  • Fully-funded workplace training for small and medium-sized enterprises.
  • Training needs analysis, identifying the skills you need to support your business and employees.
  • On-the-job vocational training to meet individual and business needs including workplace learning, live learning over Teams/Zoom and online learning.
  • Recognised accredited qualifications (Level 2, 3 & 4) to enhance employees’ skills and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). 
  • Progression pathways for employees enabling them to progress within your organisation onto higher level qualifications or apprenticeships.

Further Support

If you are out of the redundancy period and are now unemployed, support is still available through the Skills Support for the Unemployed programme. To speak to a member of our team call 01482 598785 or you can speak to your work coach at the Job Centre.

More About Us

We work in partnership with the Humber and Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnerships to deliver Skills Support for the the workforce.  

We provide industry-relevant skills training in sectors such as Manufacturing, Agri-Food, Visitor Economy, Low Carbon, Health & Care, Ports & Logistics, working alongside 20 partners based at colleges and training centres across both regions.

We also offer support for anyone facing or under redundancy through the Skills Support for Redundancy. It also provides support, advice and training through Skills Support for the Unemployed, which is available throughout the Humber region.  

Skills Support for the Workforce, Skills Support for Redundancy and Skills Support for the Unemployed are funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
