Tech Week Humber 2022 returns this week with a five-day festival connecting enterprise and education in all things tech.
The festival takes place online, in-person and across the city from Monday 7th November - Friday 11th November 2022. The event aims to inspire the next generation of tech talent and quality collaborations across different sectors.
The world’s most influential tech brands have attended in previous years, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Apple, with events focusing on software development, cyber security and much more.
As headline partner, Hull College has helped shape the week-long series of events, presentations and discussions that will focus on future skills development to support economic growth in the region. Industry 4.0 will be the common theme throughout the week and will be tackled in many ways in various formats through the week.
Hull College will showcase its digital curriculum transformation at Tech Week Humber’s flagship expo, hosted at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday 8th November.
The college will showcase a selection of innovative training and education facilities through a range of electronic vehicles, and demonstrations to show how drones can be used across many sectors, from construction to art and design. Staff and students will also be on hand to speak to about forthcoming innovations and how technology is transforming the curriculum.
Hull College is also the headline sponsor for the first Tech Week Humber Educators’ Conference, hosted at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Hull, on Wednesday 9th November.
The conference will provide an open forum for industry and education to connect, showcase products and services and discuss how curriculums are aligned to ensure a future-ready skills workforce.
Delegates will hear from the leadership team members of Hull College on a range of key issues facing education and regional businesses alike.
Deborah Millar, executive director of digital transformation at Hull College, will also deliver a keynote speech about future tech and its impact on industry, while Lynette Leith, vice-principal at Hull College, will lead discussion about how technology is embedded in curriculum development.
A line-up of industry professionals from businesses such as Apple, VISR and KCOM as well as Hull City Council and many more contributors from the edtech space, will contribute conversation and discussions of the day.
Tech Week Humber’s education days will also run across Thursday 10th November and Friday 11th November. On a larger scale than ever, Hull College will host these days alongside Wilberforce College, providing primary school pupils, secondary school and college students the opportunity to take part in future-tech based workshops, including a mini hackathon from IBM Z. They will get a first-hand insight into careers in tech and the huge opportunities available to them.
Antonio Tombanane, founder of Tech Week, said: “We’re incredibly excited to have Hull College as headline sponsor of this year’s Tech Week.
