The month of December is fast approaching, along with the many Christmassy traditions that come with it.
While advent calendars, trees, wreaths, presents and all the other trimmings are all a wonderful part of the experience, we also have the perfect way that you can adapt your celebrations to give back and help those in need this festive season with our reverse advent calendar campaign.
It’s a really simple idea that works in the opposite way of a regular advent calendar. Instead of taking something each day during the opening 24 days of December, you put something in to donate and help those less fortunate, ensuring none of our students are going without basic necessities over the Christmas break in the process.
Both staff and students can participate in the reverse advent calendar campaign.
Simply send an email to Louise.Davison3@hull-college.ac.uk signalling your intentions to contribute to the reverse advent calendar campaign and arrangements can be made for her merry little helpers (our Early Years students) to come and collect donations on a daily basis or arrange set times. Alternatively, you can also bring any donations to the ‘Grab and Go’ store located in L02 in the Student Services Hub.
Here are some suggestions to fill your reverse advent calendar with…
Tinned Food (such as baked beans, chopped tomatoes, tuna, carrots, soup etc)
Packets of Food (such as pasta and rice etc)
Cooking Sauces
Biscuits and Crackers
Crisps and Savoury Snacks
Breakfast Cereals
For more information on how to make a donation or to enquire about the reverse advent calendar project, please email Louise.Davison3@hull-college.ac.uk.
Whatever you’re able to donate, we’re thankful for your support and all the great things your reverse Advent calendar will do for those in need in our student community.
