Hull College is proud to celebrate the success of our Executive Director of Digital Transformation, Deb Millar, who has been shortlisted in an incredible three categories at this year’s Women in Tech Excellence Awards.
Deb, who has dedicated more than 27 years to the education sector, has been named as a finalist for Hero of the Year, Transformation Leader of the Year, and Digital Leader of the Year. Her recognition places both Hull College and Hull and East Yorkshire firmly in the spotlight for digital innovation and leadership.
The prestigious awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton Park Lane in London on Wednesday 27th November, bringing together inspirational women from across the UK’s technology sector. With hundreds of nominations submitted from all corners of the country, Deb’s triple shortlisting is a remarkable achievement that highlights her outstanding leadership and impact.
Since joining Hull College, Deb has spearheaded an ambitious digital agenda that has transformed the way students learn and staff teach. By introducing innovative tools, new technologies, and future-focused approaches, she has ensured that learners - many from Hull and the wider region - are developing the digital skills and confidence needed to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Her leadership has not only reshaped learning within the college but also positioned Hull as a hub of digital innovation within education.
Speaking about the honour, Deb said: “I am truly honoured to have been shortlisted for three awards at the Women in Tech Excellence Awards. To be recognised alongside so many inspirational women is a privilege, but for me this is also about shining a light on the amazing work happening here in Hull. I am proud to represent the city, Hull College, and our students on the national stage, and I hope this recognition helps inspire others in our region to see just how exciting and rewarding a career in digital and technology can be.”
Now in their ninth year, the Women in Tech Excellence Awards celebrate the contributions and achievements of women working across the technology sector. Since their launch, the awards have recognised more than 3,240 women in front of audiences of over 4,700 people, with success stories shared widely across industry and national media.
Each of the three categories Deb has been shortlisted for highlights a different aspect of her leadership:
Hero of the Year recognises women who go above and beyond to champion others and deliver exceptional outcomes.
Transformation Leader of the Year celebrates leaders who have delivered substantial and positive change within their organisation.
Digital Leader of the Year honours those who are driving forward digital innovation and measurable transformation.
Deb’s recognition at such a high-profile national awards ceremony is not only a huge personal achievement but also a significant boost for Hull College and the wider region. It highlights Hull’s growing reputation as a place where digital talent, innovation, and leadership are thriving.
