The HNC Engineering (General) programme provides a broad, practical foundation in engineering, preparing learners for employment across multiple sectors or progression to higher-level study. Targeted at school leavers, apprentices, and adult learners, it develops technical knowledge, problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills. This programme has been co-designed with regional employers in the Humber area to meet local workforce needs, including companies in renewable energy, offshore manufacturing, and advanced materials sectors. Distinctive features include a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical workshops, block-mode delivery of modules, use of industry-standard software and equipment, and multi-disciplinary project work. Emphasis is also placed on mechanical, electrical, and polymer/composites disciplines, reflecting the skills most needed by local employers. Completion equips learners with the knowledge and experience required for technician roles, advanced study, or direct employment in multi-skilled engineering positions, and students who are successful can progress directly onto the HND in Engineering (General
