We were delighted to host the HEY Intercollege Competition on Wednesday 4th March, welcoming students and staff from across the region for a fantastic day of creativity, collaboration, and friendly competition.

Alongside our own students, teams from East Riding College, Wilberforce College, Wyke Sixth Form College, Bishop Burton College, Hull Training and HETA joined us for an exciting programme of challenges across three subject areas: Performing Arts and Music, Science, and Electrical Engineering.

Throughout the day, students demonstrated impressive talent, commitment and teamwork as they competed, shared ideas and supported one another. The atmosphere across the college was vibrant and inspiring, with competitors celebrating each other’s achievements and showcasing the very best of Further Education.

Events like this provide students with a valuable opportunity to test their skills in a real-world environment, build confidence, and connect with students from across the Humber and East Yorkshire region. From creative performances on stage to technical precision in workshops and laboratories, the competition highlighted the incredible range of skills being developed by students across our sector.

Our students delivered some fantastic performances throughout the day, with several impressive individual and group successes. In the Performing Arts and Music competition, Leo Sheppard was named Solo Winner, while the group Lose It All secured first place in the group category. Circus were named runners-up in the group competition, and Emily Peters was recognised for her performance, stage presence and professionalism.

In the Science competition, our students once again demonstrated outstanding ability. Delin Zvariruka took first place in the individual category, with Olusanya Marvelous named runner-up. We were also proud to be recognised as the highest scoring college overall in the Science competition.

The Electrical Engineering competition saw students demonstrate strong technical expertise and industry-ready skills, with competitors from across the region recognised for their precision, safety standards and problem-solving abilities.

While there were many winners on the day, the competition was ultimately a celebration of the dedication, enthusiasm, and potential shown by every student who took part. Each competitor represented their college with pride and contributed to an inspiring showcase of talent from across the region.

We look forward to continuing to work with our partner colleges to create more opportunities like this – bringing students together to learn, compete, and celebrate the very best of Further Education.
