Hair and Make-Up students at Hull College were proud to support Dove House Hospice's charity event - Strictly Learn To Dance - last week.
The competition - hosted each year by Dove House Hospice - involves 24 members of the public paired up in 12 couples. Each pairing learnt and perfected two dances, which they then performed in front of a live audience on Friday 1st April (and no this isn't an April Fool) at the Hull City Hall.
Level 3 & 4 Theatrical Make-Up and level 2 Hairdressing students were asked to work their magic and use their talents to transform the participants into an assortment of well-known characters from Disney, Pixar and Marvel films - and their efforts didn’t disappoint as they worked seven hours - even completing a hair and make-up change at the interval!
The students involved were: Maddie Stork, Lizzie Moy, Katie Fewlass, Abigail Dimaline, Paige Penn, Kirsty Camplin, Tracey Hodgson, Ethan Vetier, Tommy J Mountain, Lauren Kirkwood and Caitlin Jaram - joined by tutors Amanda Reeve, Amanda Clark and Natasha Davison - all of which worked efficiently and professionally to represent the college in exemplary fashion.
Further support was provided by local business owner Amanda Stride (Alternative in South Cave) who spoke highly of our students' contribution to the evening. She said: "Well done to everyone involved for helping such a worthy event and charity! The students' behaviour was professional and showed excellent hairdressing techniques."
The event has been supported by The Institute of Health & Lifestyle for several years now, with a focus on helping to raise vital funds for the outstanding support provided by Dove House Hospice. Once again, the evening proved to be a spectacular success - with more than £35,000 raised so far. Well done to everyone involved!
