What is send?

Our SEND programmes are designed for you if you need additional support to succeed in education, employment and everyday life. We provide a safe, inclusive environment where you are valued, understood and encouraged to achieve your potential.

With dedicated specialist staff and personalised learning plans, we focus on helping you build confidence, communication, independence and employability skills. Our courses are carefully designed to support your progression – whether that’s moving on to a full-time college course, supported employment, further training or greater independence in daily life.

At Hull College, we work closely with you and your family so you can feel confident about your next step.

Our Independent Living courses at Entry Level 1-3 are designed to support you to develop essential life skills in a nurturing, structured environment. These programmes focus on helping you become more confident, independent and prepared for everyday life.

You will develop practical skills such as personal care, money management, communication and using your local community safely and confidently. Alongside this, there is a strong focus on wellbeing, social skills and emotional development, helping you build self-esteem and make informed choices.

Our specialist teams provide tailored support, including speech and language strategies and emotional wellbeing support, to meet your individual needs. Learning is personalised and flexible, allowing you to progress at a pace that feels right for you.

Through enrichment activities, real-life learning and structured routines, you will gain the confidence to take part more independently in college life and beyond. This pathway supports progression into further Foundation Learning, vocational study or supported routes into employment and adult services.

join the journey

At Hull College we’re on a journey. One that will see us bring world class education and skills to Hull and East Yorkshire. We can’t wait for you to join us.

The course is genuinely interesting from day one and it feels like everything we learn is preparing us for real careers. It’s more than just classroom learning – it’s hands-on and meaningful. The facilities, like the clinical skills rooms and mock ambulance, make learning so much more realistic. If I had to describe my experience in three words? Awesome, awesome, and awesome!
