Foundations courses AT HULL COLLEGE

The Future Foundations Pathway Level 1 is designed for you if you’re ready to take the next step towards vocational study but still benefit from extra support. This pathway helps you build independence, confidence, and the core skills you need to progress successfully.

You will study the BTEC Level 1 Introductory Certificate in Vocational Studies, including units such as Being Organised and Developing a Personal Progression Plan, helping you build strong study habits, set goals, and plan for your future.

Alongside this, you’ll explore vocational areas such as Sport, Business/IT, Catering, Childcare, Hair & Beauty, and Art & Design, as well as life learning. This gives you the chance to try out career interests while developing practical, transferable skills.

Your course is highly personalised, with access to maths and English support, skills assessments, and progression planning. Future Foundations is ideal if you want to build confidence and move on to Level 2 courses, apprenticeships, or further training.

Our Re-engagement programme is designed for you if you’re currently not in education, employment, or training. This pathway supports you to rebuild confidence, reconnect with learning, and take positive steps towards your future.

The programme focuses on what matters most to you, helping you recognise your strengths, set goals, and develop a sense of purpose. You’ll receive tailored support through mentoring, employability-focused tutorials, and personal development sessions.

You can work towards GCSE English and maths, take part in work experience and projects, and explore vocational areas to help identify your future career interests. There’s also a strong focus on progression planning and careers guidance, so you feel supported to move into further education, training, or employment.
