What is ESOL?

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) is all about developing the essential reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills you need for everyday life, work, and study in the UK. At Hull College, our courses are practical, supportive, and enjoyable – designed to help you communicate clearly and confidently.

Full-time courses are available for 16-18 year-olds, while adults aged 19+ can choose from flexible part-time classes in the daytime or evenings.

With one of the highest achievement rates in the UK, our ESOL department is recognised for its exceptional teaching and student success.

By focusing on both written and spoken English, our courses empower you to gain the confidence needed to integrate into your new community, further your education, and access employment opportunities.

Join the Journey

At Hull College we’re on a journey. One that will see us bring world class education and skills to Hull and East Yorkshire. We can’t wait for you to join us.

I’m incredibly grateful for the level of support I’ve received since joining the college – it’s been amazing from the very start. Coming from a different education system in a different country, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the encouragement and guidance I’ve received have made such a positive difference.
