What is Counselling?

Sometimes it can be easier to talk to a stranger than to family or friends, which is why we have a dedicated counselling service to ensure the overall health and wellbeing of those at the college.

Whether you’re studying full-time, part-time, on an apprenticeship, or a member of staff, our trained counsellors are here to listen, support, and help you find ways forward – free of charge and without judgment.

Counselling is a talking therapy that gives you time and space to focus on you. It’s a chance to speak openly with someone who will listen, understand, and help you explore what’s going on in a calm, supportive environment.

You might come to counselling to talk about:

  • Stress, anxiety, or low mood.
  • Relationship or friendship difficulties.
  • Family issues or conflict.
  • Confidence or self-esteem.
  • Bereavement or loss.
  • Anger, loneliness, or uncertainty about the future.
  • Course-related pressures such as workload or motivation.

There’s no problem too big or too small – if something’s affecting your wellbeing, we’re here to help.
