A Message from Our Careers Advisor

Hello, I’m Matt, and I work as a Careers Advisor here at Hull College. You’ll usually find me in the Student Services Hub, just behind Main Reception in the Chesters Building.

My role is all about helping students explore their next steps – whether that’s applying to university, finding the right career pathway, preparing for interviews, updating a CV, or even considering a complete career change. If you’re feeling unsure about your future plans, that’s where I can step in to offer support and guidance.

I know that making big decisions about your future can feel daunting, but you don’t have to face it alone. I can help you weigh up your options, think about what skills and strengths you already have, and explore where they could take you. Together, we’ll look at the opportunities available and create a plan that feels right for you.

Careers advice isn’t about telling you what to do – it’s about giving you the tools and confidence to make informed choices. I’ll always give impartial advice and encourage you to stay open-minded, proactive, and positive. The most important thing is to focus on what you can do, and to start taking small steps towards your goals.

Your future doesn’t need to be set in stone – plans can change, and that’s absolutely fine. What matters is building the skills, knowledge, and confidence to adapt and succeed wherever your journey takes you.

So if you’re starting to think about studying for a degree, looking for your first job, planning a career switch, or just want a chat about where to begin – come and see me in the Student Services Hub. I’m always happy to help!
