Unforgettable Experience for Esports Students
Our Hullraisers Esports F1 team experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the iconic Williams Racing headquarters – an inspiring reward after securing a Top 20 national finish in the F1 24 Hotlap Challenge. The visit celebrated the students’ commitment, teamwork, and competitive success, while offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes insight into the world of elite motorsport and Esports.
The day began with a series of inspiring talks from industry leaders, including Ben Hawkins, Head of Performance (Esports) at Williams Racing, and Tom Dore, Vice President at British Esports. Students gained invaluable insight into the fast-paced Esports landscape, learning about performance analysis, career pathways, and how digital competition connects with real-world motorsport at the highest level.
“Listening to professionals who work at the top of the industry was incredible,” said one Esports student. “It showed us just how many career options exist within Esports and motorsport, and it’s motivated me even more to push myself.”

Students were also treated to a guided tour of the Williams Racing museum, where they explored the team’s legendary history and came face-to-face with some of Formula 1’s most iconic cars. The experience brought classroom learning to life, highlighting the innovation, engineering excellence, and teamwork that underpin success at the elite level.
Following lunch, the group took part in an interactive STEM workshop, tackling hands-on challenges and competitions designed to test problem-solving, collaboration, and analytical thinking – key skills for both Esports and wider digital careers. The day concluded in the state-of-the-art Sim Racing Suite, where students competed in the final race of the season at Abu Dhabi.
Reflecting on the experience, Richard Holmes, Course Lead for Esports at Hull College, said: “This visit was an outstanding opportunity for our students. It rewarded their hard work and showed them what’s possible with dedication and ambition.
