Our Catering and Hospitality students are celebrating an incredible achievement after competing in the prestigious International Salon Culinaire in London earlier this month.
Taking part in a wide range of challenging classes, including live skills theatre competitions and intricate display work, our students showcased their creativity, technical ability, and professionalism on a national stage. Their hard work and dedication paid off, with an impressive medal haul of 35 awards – including 13 bronze, 14 silver, and 8 gold medals.
Among the standout successes, Josh Roche and Lexy Richardson were both awarded ‘Best in Class’ for their exceptional entries, highlighting the high level of talent, skill, and attention to detail across the group.
Catering tutor Daniel Clarke praised the students for their commitment and the way they represented the college throughout the competition.
“I couldn’t be prouder of what our students have achieved. The level of effort, preparation, and determination they showed in the lead-up to the competition has been outstanding. To come away with results like this at such a prestigious event is a real testament to their talent and hard work.”
He also highlighted the importance of experiences like this in helping students develop both personally and professionally.
“Competitions like the International Salon Culinaire give our students the chance to challenge themselves in a real industry environment. They’ve shown fantastic creativity, resilience, and professionalism throughout, and it’s been brilliant to see their confidence grow on such a big stage.”
This success reflects not only the dedication of our students, but also the strength of our Catering and Hospitality provision, where industry-standard training and real-world experiences are at the heart of everything we do.
With this achievement behind them, our students are already looking ahead to their next challenge – the British Culinary Championships in May – where they will once again have the opportunity to showcase their skills and continue their success on a national stage.
Last year saw our talented students cook up a storm at the event, claiming a phenomenal 36 medals and the coveted title of ‘Best Competing College’. Read more about that success here.
