From day one, you’ll work within Hull College’s professional training salon, Salon QG, a fully equipped commercial clinic where you’ll carry out real treatments on real clients under expert supervision. This authentic clinical experience ensures you build confidence, accuracy, and an exceptional understanding of client care, safety, and ethics.

The programme combines science, creativity, and professionalism. You’ll explore:

• Skin science and dermatology – understanding the physiology of ageing and the biological foundations of cosmetic procedures.

• Advanced aesthetic technologies – developing practical expertise in laser, light, and chemical-based treatments.

• Client consultation and ethics – learning how to conduct safe, ethical, and results-driven treatments centred on client wellbeing.

• Business and leadership skills – preparing for management roles or self-employment in the aesthetics sector through modules in leadership, enterprise, and employability.

The Foundation Degree in Advanced Beauty Therapy and Aesthetics combines hands-on clinical training with in-depth scientific learning and professional development. Across two years (full-time) or three years (part-time), you’ll build advanced practical skills, a strong scientific foundation, and the confidence to work safely and effectively in the modern aesthetics industry.

Your studies are divided into two key levels:

• Level 4 (Year 1): Building the scientific and professional foundations of advanced aesthetic practice.

• Level 5 (Year 2): Developing technical mastery, leadership, and research skills to prepare for professional or managerial roles.

Level 4 – Foundations of Clinical Aesthetics

In your first year, you’ll gain a deep understanding of the human body, skin function, and how to perform safe, ethical, and effective aesthetic treatments.

• Academic Skills, Ethics, Consultation and Client Care for Cosmetic Aesthetics – Develop your academic confidence and professional identity. You’ll learn how to carry out detailed client consultations, explore ethical and legal frameworks, and understand your professional responsibilities.

• Life Sciences for Cosmetic Aesthetics – Study anatomy, physiology, and biology relevant to cosmetic interventions. You’ll explore how cells, tissues, and body systems respond to treatments and ageing.

• Dermatology, Microbiology and the Physiology of Ageing – Gain scientific insight into skin conditions, microorganisms, and the ageing process to make safe, evidence-based treatment decisions.
