Course Breakdown
Course Structure
This programme is delivered through a carefully balanced blend of theory-based learning and hands-on workshop practice, ensuring you develop both the understanding and the technical skills needed for modern engineering roles. Classroom sessions introduce key engineering concepts such as principles, technical drawing, materials, and electrical fundamentals, giving you the knowledge required to plan and understand engineering tasks in depth.
In the workshop, you will apply this theory directly through practical activities in hand fitting, machining, maintenance, electrical circuits, and measurement techniques. The structure of the course has been designed to create strong symmetry between theory and practice- what you learn in the classroom is immediately reinforced through real engineering tasks, and workshop experience helps deepen your understanding of theoretical concepts.
Assessment is delivered through two online exams, practical observations, and written assignments, all of which reflect the combined importance of knowledge and hands on competence. This balanced approach ensures you develop into a confident, work-ready engineering technician prepared for Level 3 study or an engineering apprenticeship.
Progression & Next Steps
After completing this Level 2, you will be well prepared to progress onto a Level 3 engineering programme, where you can specialise further in areas such as machining, maintenance, electrical engineering, or hand fitting. Our learners also choose to enter an engineering apprenticeship, allowing them to continue developing their skills while gaining valuable experience in the workplace. This qualification provides a strong foundation for either route, helping you move confidently toward becoming a skilled engineering technician with excellent future career prospects.
