Course Breakdown
Course Structure
The course runs over two years and is built around creative projects rather than exams. You learn through workshops, production sessions, group collaborations, and individual projects that develop your creative and technical skills step by step. Each term brings new challenges, from short experimental tasks to full film and audio productions.
You spend most of your time in practical sessions, capturing, producing, and refining creative assets, supported by discussions, screenings, and tutor feedback. Production is at the heart of everything you do, with projects designed to stretch your imagination and give you the freedom to create work that feels real and professional.
Assessment is project based with no exams. Everything you produce contributes to your overall show reel portfolio and creative development. Apart from the final unit in each year, which is graded at pass, merit, or distinction, all other work is assessed on a pass or fail basis. This approach helps you take creative risks, learn from experimentation, and discover your own style as a storyteller and media producer.
Progression & Next Steps
Completing this course opens a range of exciting creative pathways. Many students progress to university to study film, media production, sound design, animation, or digital storytelling, while others move straight into work or begin apprenticeships within the creative and digital industries.
You leave with a professional portfolio, practical skills, and an understanding of how the media world works, from production workflows to audience engagement. The qualification carries UCAS points equivalent to three A levels and is recognised by universities and employers across the creative sector.
Whether you want to study at a higher level, start your own creative business, work as a freelancer, or develop a career in film, television, streaming, or online media, this course gives you the confidence and experience to take your next step and keep developing your own creative voice along the way.
