Course Overview
If you’re passionate about beauty and want to turn your interest into a career, this course will give you the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to get started in the industry. You’ll learn how to deliver a wide range of professional treatments while developing strong client care, consultation and communication skills.
Throughout the course, you will practise manicure and pedicure treatments, hair removal, facials, lash and brow services, make-up application and light cured gel polish. You’ll gain real experience working with paying clients in Salon QG, helping you understand the pace, professionalism and expectations of a busy salon environment.
Alongside practical sessions, you’ll explore anatomy and physiology, skin analysis and the principles of professional beauty practice, giving you the knowledge needed to work safely and confidently within the beauty industry.
Entry Requirements:
4 x GCSEs at grade 3(D) or above, including Maths and English

Course Breakdown
Course Structure
Your learning takes place through a mixture of practical salon sessions, demonstrations and tutor-led theory lessons. You’ll develop your skills step by step, practising treatments regularly while building the professional knowledge needed to work safely within the beauty industry.
Assessment takes place through practical observations, coursework and portfolio work, allowing you to showcase your development throughout the course.
Progression & Next Steps
After completing this course, you can progress into employment within beauty salons, spas, hotels, health clubs or cruise ships. You may also choose to continue your studies at Hull College by progressing onto Level 3 programmes.
