24th September 2019
On Monday 23rd September, 5 BA Hons Technical Theatre students had the opportunity to delve into the world of all things pyrotechnic!
As well as achieving their scissor lift and cherry picker license (IPAF 3A and 3B), students enriched their tech theatre knowledge further by attending a pyrotechnic course ran by Stage Electrics and JustFX in Huddersfield’s Lawrence Batley Theatre.
The one-day course gave learners the opportunity to ‘wire and fire’ professional pyrotechnic articles, demonstrate good health and safety practice and research the history of pyrotechnics, further developing their knowledge of the technical theatre industry.
The course was a perfect addition to their studies, as the class are currently working on an industry development module, which allows them to set up as a freelancer ready for the working world.
During the industry development module, each student will create a professional website, gain practical work experience and take their first steps into the world of work.
