Hull College learners and staff celebrated #UnitedAndProud week earlier this month.
The second of our themed weeks - following Smile and Breathe in late October - saw the promotion and embedding of British Values in everything we do with our learners - focusing on Democracy, The Rule of Law, Individual Liberty and Mutual Respect and Tolerance.
Each and every one of our vocational study areas got involved and incorporated the importance of staying #UnitedAndProud into their lessons through a wide range of activities - including a British Values treasure hunt around college, along with group discussions, debates and quizzes.
All learners were actively encouraged to discuss what being British meant to them before contributing to our British Values Tree posters and notice boards, which are now proudly displayed around the college.
Hair & Beauty learners showcased their skills and talents by producing nail art, along with lip and eye looks to illustrate British Values, whilst our Catering groups focused on how the British diet has been influenced by countries across the world and how - as a nation - Britain has embraced these influences. On top of that, our cabin crew learners produced a TikTok video - in their new uniforms - to promote pride in their status as a crew member of Hull College airlines.
Throughout the year, we will continue to look to extend our learners’ knowledge of British Values to enable them to discover and learn more about British culture and traditions and help to prepare them for life in modern Britain.
