It’s been a busy and active time for our sports learners!

From climbing mountains to supporting triathlons, the students have just about caught their breath after an exciting few weeks. Let’s catch up with what they have been up to…

Brownlee Foundation Triathlon

On Monday 20th May, learners attended Hymers College to support the Active Humber Sports Partnership on delivering the Brownlee Foundation Triathlon to 1300 local primary school children.

This event not only enhanced learners work experience criteria, but it aided their completion of several study units.

The link with Active Humber and Hull College’s sports department has been developed over recent years through tutor Mark Brown and has enabled learners to get involved with a variety of projects.

Jo McDonald from Active Humber said “Just wanted to say a huge thank you to you, your colleague and your tremendous leaders for taking the time out today to help at the Triathlon.”

“A great bunch of students with an enthusiastic and mature attitude. They worked really well as a team and their efforts were amazing as it’s quite a physically laborious day.”

The Great Outdoors

For the very first time, a group of Level 3 sports learners have completed a multi-day expedition.

The expedition took place in the Derbyshire mountains in Edale and saw learners climbing through a waterfall, camping in a barn but most out all learning vital team building skills.

Taking part in the expedition has meant that learners have completed two of their assignments for Outdoor Adventurous Expeditions.
