Level 2 and 3 learners competed against professional chefs at industry level to win 50 medals!

After weeks of training, trials and tribulations, a team of 21 Hospitality and Catering learners from Hull College were ready to participate at the largest live industry competition in the UK ‘Salon Culinaire’.

Held at the NEC Birmingham on 22nd and 23rd January, the aspiring chefs who are enrolled on Level 2 Culinary Skills, Level 2 Professional Cookery (Adults) and Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma, were participating against professional chefs and learners from some of the leading colleges in the UK.

The Hull College team returned with 50 medals; 9 gold, 25 silver, 14 bronze, 1 Best in Class for Bread Selection, 1 Chair-persons Award for Most Outstanding Competitor.

Hull College are huge supporters of national skills competitions, as the positive impact of competing is recognised through learners developing their skills and confidence.

Everyone involved is extremely proud of the learner’s achievements, who are a credit to their tutors and the college.

Special recognition to Ian Snedden, Phil Dixon and Matthew Dominey for the hours of dedicated training and support they have given to ensure these learners were ready to compete.
