Hull College Group picked up the award for the best stand at the excellent Skills Humber event at the Bonus Arena.

The event showcased a range training and education for 14-24 year olds in the Humber area, from further and higher education to apprenticeships.

Our stand highlighted a flavour of what is on offer at Hull College, giving visitors the opportunity to try their hand at a number of trades, including electrical skills, engineering, welding and brick laying. This approach was a huge success, attracting masses of interested students and generating a real buzz around the stand.

In addition to the activity on the stand, Hull College students and tutors took to the 'Skills Theatre' stage to provide live demonstrations in the latest hairdressing and make up techniques. Performing to a live audience certainly helped build students confidence, as well as inspiring the next generation of learners.

The hard work of everyone involved in the Skills Humber event was rewarded, as we picked up the award for the best stand. The award, which was presented to the stand with the highest footfall and one deemed to be the most interactive, was chosen by the event organisers and is testament to the planning and dedication from everyone involved.

Phil Clark, Director of Curriculum for Engineering, Construction and Built Enviroment, commented on the event, “Hull College Group were very pleased to be able to take part in the Skills Humber event. As a college, we are passionate about young people and the opportunities available to them in their home city. It was fantastic to see so many local young people attend the event and indeed our stand and we were particularly thrilled to be awarded the Best Stand Award.”
