Congratulations to our team of Level 2 and Level 3 Culinary and Patisserie learners who claimed another impressive medal haul at International Salon Culinaire last week.

International Salon Culinaire is the UK’s largest and most prestigious chef competition programme. This year, due to the postponement of the Hotel, Restaurant & Catering (HRC) event from 2021 to 2022, Salon Culinaire moved to an alternative format featuring a mixture of virtual and live competitions, running from February through to June, providing talented chefs with the opportunity to showcase their skills and talent to the industry despite a challenging past 15 months.

After four weeks of training from Ian Snedden, Phil Dixon and Matthew Dominey in the build-up to the event, the team of 16 learners participated in a series of live-streamed practical skills tests last Wednesday. And they received the rewards that their hard work and dedication deserved by claiming an impressive medal haul which included six golds, 12 silvers and five bronzes, along with two merit awards, to show the UK and the world that Hull College learners are some of the best in their field.

A special mention must also go to Jay Wilkinson, who competed in four live heats and achieved an impressive four gold medals. Well done, Jay and to everyone involved in the success!
