We've caught up with former student Cara Chadwick as she tells us her experience of studying at Hull College.

Why did you choose to study at Hull College?

I looked at a few different places to study but found that Hull College were the most informative with regards to the GCSE Biology course. I met with Jenny prior to signing up to the course and she made sure it was the right course for me and from there I enrolled.

What did you like most about your course?

I liked the pace of the course and the different methods of learning. There was a good balance of practical and theoretical work involved which enabled the class to remain engaged throughout. My top topic would have to be about the human body and reproductive systems, it has had that much of an influence that it has changed my future educational goals/career path.

What have you / are you going on to do next?

I am about to start my first year at Hull University doing a foundation year, then I will hopefully go on to obtain a degree in midwifery.

How did you find returning to education?

I loved it, it takes a while to get back into it but once you pass that barrier and start learning again the feeling is amazing and it helps give you the drive to carry on to achieve your goals and ambitions. I found that getting into the routine and the later evenings had the biggest impact on me, but before you know it you are back in the habit and getting excited about the school holidays!

Would you recommend Hull College to your family / friends?

Yes. Jenny my tutor was very supportive and approachable, she had the time to settle my nerves and help me through the year which is something I have found other schools and colleges have failed at in the past. I couldn’t recommend the college enough. Thank you for the help you have given me on my way to achieving a better future for me and my family.
