Apprentices at Staff Finders say they are being given full support to learn valuable career skills whilst working for a business which helps others find employment opportunities across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Staff Finders are proud to offer apprenticeships through Hull College’s HCUK Training recruitment service, which delivers quality training solutions and tailored programmes devised to suit employer needs.
To mark National Apprenticeship Week, which runs from February 8-14 and aims to shine a light on the achievements of employers and apprentices across the country, apprentices at Staff Finders have told how they are being helped to develop their careers whilst learning at work.
Vicky Swierczewska, 18, is working at the business whilst studying for a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. She says she is learning new skills every day by at a busy business which is called upon by many employers across the region when in need of reliable staff.
"I’ve really been enjoying my time at Staff Finders and I have learned new organisational and management skills through managing a busy reception and calendar," she said.
"I’ve undertaken many administrative duties such as scanning, printing, copying and filing, but I have also been given an insight into the recruitment process, which has involved me using my translating skills to translate between Polish and English.
"Overall I’ve had a lot of fun and I’m very excited for my journey with Staff Finders to continue as I’m learning new things every day. I would honestly recommend it to anyone."
Elle Wilson has been with Staff Finders for five months as part of the apprenticeship scheme. She says she has been given support to balance out the demands of the job and the learning aspect of the apprenticeship.
"When starting an apprenticeship I didn’t know how I was going to manage my time while working and also trying to complete all my college work, however the company have been amazing and always supportive me when I need time away to work," she said.
"When I started my role was admin-based and this gave me a lot of responsibility such as dealing with all paperwork, scanning and also running the reception. I enjoyed my time doing all these things however the company are now supporting me to expand my skills by training me to become a recruitment consultant.
"All the staff made me feel welcome and have always helped me where possible. I am now excited to continue my career with Staff Finders and see where it takes me. I would definitely recommend starting an apprenticeship as you learn to understand all parts of a business, and that helps you make decisions as to which way you would like your career to go."
Recruitment Administrator Lily Pridmore has been working for the business for two years, having started her apprenticeship in March 2019, completing it the following year.
She said: "I have been given great opportunities and was recently promoted to Resourcer, which has seen me take on the responsibility of working with my first client. Staff Finders is a very rewarding place to work and no two days are the same."
