Overview

Within the sphere of design, construction, maintenance and the use of buildings, considerable input is from the work of the Building Technician. Building Technicians work on both the pre-contract and post-contract side of development.

Many organisations employ Technicians to manage the day to day maintenance of their estates. The Level 3 Construction and the Built Environment Study Programme teaches you a range of valuable skills to give you a broad understanding of the industry as a whole.

These include health and safety, computer aided drafting, building regulations, building surveying, science and materials, sustainable construction, and project management.

Work experience in the construction industry gives you hands-on practical knowledge of the industry both on-site and in the office.

Progression could include working within the construction sector as a Building Technician or provide entry onto the HNC/D in Construction.
