Overview

The Foundation Degree in Photography has been designed around an ethos based upon creative problem solving and ensuring a learning environment in which innovation and originality are cultivated. This course aims to produce versatile photographers who are able to work effectively in a wide range of location and studio-based genres and think creatively while drawing on knowledge of critical understanding of the social, economic and cultural factors influencing their professional setting. Masterclasses in a range of subjects including drone photography, sports photography and use of a range of historical processes are available throughout the year. A varied visiting lecture programme of local, national and international photographers will be available to students in order to further understand the current demands of working in what is a creative and challenging area.

·         Research, Production and Curation for Exhibiting practice (20 credits)

Progression

Upon completion of this foundation degree students may wish to progress to the BA (Hons) Photography (Top-up) or pursue a career in any of the following areas: photographic technician, studio lighting technician, postproduction assistant, self-employed photographer, social media content provider and Instagram influencing.
