Hull College Group has been shortlisted for a prestigious sector award which would recognise the Employment Engagement of the group.
On Friday 24 February, Hull College Group will compete against seven other FE institutes from the around the UK at the renowned Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Park Lane for the award of Employment Engagement 2017.
The TES FE Awards celebrates and rewards the dedication and expertise of the people and teams who continue to make a significant contribution to improving the skill levels of young people and adult learners.
The awards are open to any organisation in the UK FE sector ranging from colleges, work-based learning providers, adult and community learning providers, offenders’ learning establishments and specialist designated institutes.
Winning an award, or purely being shortlisted, is a fantastic opportunity to raise any providers profile as well as the perfect chance to celebrate the hard work and achievements.
The Group has been recognised for the award shortlist for its approach in responding to the needs of employers such as Siemens. Following the incredibly successful partnership developed with Siemens in Hull over the previous few years which resulted in the creation of a specialist Composite Training Centre. Hull College Group was selected by Siemens to train 800 of their new Wind Turbine blade manufacturing staff and several managers and highly experienced tutors were dedicated to the contract, undergoing an extensive 6-week training programme in Aalborg, Denmark, where Siemens has an existing wind turbine blade factory.
Further to the Composite Training, Hull College Group was also selected to deliver Siemens’ trailblazing Advanced Apprenticeship Programme, which has seen 16 Hull based apprentices start their training at the college.With further investment of around £10m in state-of-the-art facilities, Hull College Group has also established itself as a Green Skills Centre of Excellence, offering a full range of programmes up to post-graduate level, and more than 150 courses covering over 100 different careers within the Renewables sector and associated supply chains.
