How To Make The Most Of An Open Event

9:00 am

Don’t forget our first Discover Hull College Open Event of the academic year is fast approaching!

We’re opening the doors to our Queen’s Gardens campus on Thursday 12th October (5:30pm – 7:30pm) so that you can find out more about life as a student with us.

Our events are packed with opportunities to get all the information you need to make the right choices about your next steps, whether you're a school leaver thinking about a Further Education course or an Apprenticeship or adult learner looking to get back into education or wanting more information on our degree-level courses.

We want you to get the most out of your experience with us, so have put together some useful hints and tips to help make sure your trip to see us is as successful as possible.

Plan Your Visit

We always anticipate our open events to be busy, so try and plan which subject areas you would like to visit and all the courses you would like to get more information on. All subject areas available to study at the college will be present at open events, so make sure you have a think about what you want to get out of the visit and the key bits of information that you want to know.

Arrive Early

Make sure you get here as early as you can to make the most of our event! Free parking is available at our Queen’s Gardens campus (HU1 3DG) and, once you’re here, all you have to do is head to the Tower Block to sign in before exploring all the course areas of interest to you.

Attend One of our ‘Discover Talks’

One member from our Senior Leadership Team will be on hand at each event to give you a warm welcome and explain more about life at Hull College, our study programmes and how we can help you on your next steps. These will take place in Elevate (located in our Chesters Building) at 5:45pm, 6:15pm & 6:45pm on the night.

Speak to our Tutors

Course tutors will be present to talk to you and your parents about the ins and outs of the course, entry requirements, what the courses actually include, and all the progression options available at the college to help you get career-ready. They will be on hand to offer any advice and guidance you need, as well as answer any questions you may have.

Explore our Facilities

As a student studying at Hull College, you will have access to a whole host of amazing facilities - whatever course you choose to study! From a dedicated bricklaying building to our clinical skills room (Health and Social Care), training kitchens and restaurant, in-house salon, and our impressive recently redesigned Elevate study spaces, there is so much to discover!

Ask all the Right Questions

We encourage you to be curious and thorough when exploring your options. Make sure you ask about things that could influence your decision - for example does the course include any written exams? How much of the course is practical and how much is theoretical? What will your timetable look like? Remember, there’s no such thing as a daft question when it comes to your future.

Say Hello to our Student Ambassadors

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to have a chat with our current crop of students (they’ll be wearing hoodies with ‘Student Ambassador’ on the back) who will be helping out at events - there’s no better way to find out what it's like to be a Hullraiser. They’ll be more than happy to discuss their college experience and what they enjoy the most about their course or life as a student with us.
