English as a Foreign Language (EFL) is an intensive, full time programme which aims to help students improve in the four key areas; listening, reading, writing and speaking. Those students at intermediate and above level will also receive lessons focusing on preparation for the IELTS examination. To ensure the specific needs of each student are met, we offer optional 2 hour tutorial sessions each week, during which students can discuss any areas they may be struggling with.
EFL is designed for people looking to develop their English Language proficiency, and is particularly helpful for those who wish to continue their studies in an English speaking country. EFL provides students with the skills required to enable further study at college or university, such as essay writing and understanding of academic conventions.
You can join our EFL course on most Mondays! As explained in the information on course fees, students can study for various lengths of time, depending on what they wish to achieve. Students must study EFL for a minimum of four weeks, and will receive 20 hours of tuition per week. Alternatively, students can study for a whole academic year if they wish to significantly improve their English abilities – it is entirely up to you how long you study for.
Our part time courses begin on set dates, and last for ten weeks. If you wish to apply for a part time course it is a good idea to register your interest in advance, as this will ensure you do not miss the course start date.
For those students who would like to study part time whilst they work, or maybe just get a little extra practice, we offer part time English courses. Our part time courses last for ten weeks, and provide students with one three hour tutorial per week, focusing on specific examinations such as FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC and IELTS.
Please note the range of part time courses we offer is dependent on the amount of student interest we receive. Please contact the International department directly for more detailed information on which part time English courses will be running.
