The programmes at Hull School of Art and Design are studio based with excellent access to a wide range of production facilities. Students based at our Queens Gardens centre enjoy their own work spaces and have access to up-to-date computer suites, Apple Mac and PC, sound and video editing facilities, photographic studios and digital print facilities and one of the best printmaking workshops in the country.
There are excellent workshops including 3D, jewellery, glass and ceramics, textiles rooms with weave, print and knit all well provided for and including computerized dobby looms, and fashion and clothing studios/workshops. Fashion and costume students are allocated their own area and a sewing machine and overlockers.
Facilities for students making moving image work include a new film production area, sound and lighting studios, film and video digital editing suites and workshops to construct models for animation and film sets.
New Media students have access to a contemporary studio containing hardware and software relevant to media production in games design, web design, animation, interactive media, digital journalism and the use of mobile technologies.
Fine Art and Illustration students are allocated generous spaces and have access to the excellent printmaking and 3d workshops adjacent to their base studios.

The School’s libraries are well stocked with reading and learning materials to support the course work: DVDs, videos, books, magazines, newspapers and journals, as well as a great range of general interest and fiction titles. Internet facilities and additional IT/online resources are available at all library sites. Copying and print facilities are also available in the main library. The reprographics area is available to students for more advanced colour copying and printing jobs.
The School’s students have many city centre and old town food and cafe outlets within minutes walk of HSAD. There are also in house cafe and food outlets available to students which provide a fine selection of food at very acceptable prices. Charlotte’s restaurant is a fully licensed service restaurant open for staff, students and visitors.

For students interested in sport and fitness Scholars Gym and Studio, based at the Learning Zone at the KC Stadium, is air conditioned and fitted with top of the range cardiovascular and resistance equipment. Qualified instructors are on hand to help you achieve a healthier lifestyle by developing your very own personal exercise programme. The mirrored studio with fully sprung floor is perfect for our exercise classes which include Spinning, Thai Boxing, Aerobics and Flexi-bars. All students are welcome to join Scholars.
The Students Union is based in the Queens Gardens HE Centre.
