Student Finance Update

Full-time Students

The Hull College Group has set its Higher Education fees at a level of £6000 per year for new full-time undergraduate students at Hull, Goole and Harrogate. The cost of fees is competitive, but importantly our students receive a high quality academic experience with outstanding tutor support.

The Group also offers additional financial support to ensure that it continues to offer opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to benefit from higher education.

Part-time Students

Hull College fees for part-time Higher Education students are in the range of £3,000-£4,500, depending on the programme of study. Part-time students from England do not have to pay their tuition fees upfront. You can get a loan to cover the cost of your tuition, which you only start to pay back when you are earning over £21,000 a year. Further information on part-time student finance is available from the Student Loans Company www.slc.co.uk/england

What financial help can I get from HCUK?

National Scholarship Programme (NSP)
The main purpose of the NSP is to benefit individual students from disadvantaged backgrounds directly as they enter Higher Education (HE). Each eligible student will receive a benefit of not less than £3,000 (full-time and pro rata part-time) and no more than £1,000 of the overall award is to be provided as a cash bursary.

Wilberforce Scholarships
Hull College Group welcomes applications for four Wilberforce Scholarships, which are available to support students studying for a Foundation or Honours Degree. The selection process includes an application form, personal statement and focuses upon community engagement, social responsibility and citizenship. The scholarships are presented at the HE Awards Ceremony in October.

Awards for Academic Achievement
Hull College Group nurtures and supports student academic achievement, including additional financial awards for students entering with an academic profile of AAB, DDD or equivalent. The Awards for Academic Achievement will be in the form of a £1,000 cash benefit and a £1,000 fees discount.

HE Access to Learning Fund
The Access to Learning Fund can provide extra help if you’re in hardship and need extra financial support. We will look at your individual circumstances, but you may, for example, be able to get help for course or living costs that are not already covered by other forms of financial help, emergency payments to cover unexpected financial crises, or extra support if you are thinking of giving up your course because of financial problems.

HCUK Progression Bursary
We also offer an additional generous bursary package to Hull, Goole and Harrogate College students progressing from a Level 3 course to a Higher Education course or from a Foundation Degree to Honours, provided by the Hull College Group. Eligible Higher Education students could be entitled to receive £500 per year each year for the duration of the programme, based on three years full time, or pro-rata for part-time.

If you have any questions about Higher Education student finance and support, please contact student services on 01482 598942 or call into the Chesters reception foyer and speak to a member of our dedicated team.
